Glass to Metals PTFE Bellows

Glass to Metal PTFE Bellows are flexible expansion connectors engineered to safely join glass assemblies with metal equipment while isolating the glass from mechanical stress, vibration, and thermal expansion generated by rigid metallic components. These bellows are essential in glassware installations where pumps, heat exchangers, columns, or metal pipelines interface directly with fragile glass systems.

Manufactured from high-purity PTFE, these bellows deliver exceptional chemical resistance, making them suitable for aggressive chemical environments, vacuum systems, and pressure operations commonly encountered in chemical and pharmaceutical plants.

Design & Functional Concept

The bellows comprise a corrugated PTFE body designed to flex axially and laterally without transferring excessive loads to glass joints. The hybrid end configuration allows:

  • One end to interface with glass flanges or glass joints
  • The opposite end to connect to metal flanges or adaptor flanges

This configuration enables safe integration of dissimilar materials while maintaining sealing integrity.

Material Characteristics

  • Bellows Material: Pure PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene)
  • Chemical Compatibility:
  • Strong acids & alkalis
  • Solvents and halogenated media
  • Reactive and high-purity chemicals

Surface Properties:

  • Non-stick
  • Non-wetting
  • Non-contaminating

Key Technical Specifications

  • Convolution Geometry
Optimized number of convolutions, wall thickness, and pitch to balance flexibility, strength, and fatigue life
  • Effective Length & Movement Absorption
Designed to absorb axial movement, angular deflection, and limited lateral misalignment
  • Hybrid Flange Interface
One end mates with glass via bellow flange, while the other connects to metal using PTFE or adaptor flanges
  • Vibration Isolation Capability
Effectively decouples vibration from rotating or mechanical metal equipment
  • Pressure & Vacuum Performance
Suitable for full vacuum and moderate process pressures, dependent on size and design
  • Thermal Expansion Compensation
Accommodates differential expansion between glass and metal components
  • Customization Options
Flange drilling patterns such as Table E, Table F, ASA 150 available on request
