1️⃣ HCl Gas Introduction:

Hydrogen chloride (HCl) gas, generated as a byproduct, is introduced into the packed column from the gas feed pipe.

2️⃣ Fresh Water Feed:

Make-up water is sprayed from the top of the column.

3️⃣ Gas-Water Contact:

The highly efficient packed column allows maximum contact between HCl gas and water, facilitating absorption.

4️⃣ Exothermic Reaction:

The absorption of HCl gas generates heat, which leads to partial water vaporization.

5️⃣ Condensation & Cooling:

The vaporized water is condensed in the condenser, returning to the column.

6️⃣ HCl Acid Collection:

The absorbed HCl forms hydrochloric acid, which is collected at the bottom of the column.
